Blog reflections by Elizabeth Shoop, LPC
I haven’t blogged in a while. I've lacked the consistency and coherence to regularly set the stage for inspiration and creativity. But one way I have begun to “prime the pump” of creative flow is to practice morning pages. Morning pages is the habit of writing first thing every morning, no matter what comes out. At first, what comes out can be rusty dribble, until the pipes are cleared and a full flow of fresh water can ensue. Besides the daily discipline of morning pages, I’ve been inspired by my clients, the ones who write for healing, and whose writing becomes a balm for me. Of course, this is held in the sacred reservoir of our sessions. But I secretly hope that as time goes on, the world can hear their voice, more and more. Thanks to morning pages and courageous healers, I offer this morning’s flow. I’m Learning... Sound Light Nature Seem to be keys to the Universe. Eye contact Voice coherence Physical touch Seem to be keys to Relationships. Sunlight Music Water Seem to be keys to Health. Open-heartedness Inspiration Sensation Seem to be keys to Mental Health. May I carry and use these keys to unlock the doors of life, grace, and healing, first for myself, and then in my work with others. May I be reminded hundreds of times each day to tap into these powerful resources. Simple, ubiquitous, and free; always accessible. May I incorporate them into all aspects of my daily functioning and interactions. “How can we bring LIGHT into this problem?” “What SOUNDS or music may be applicable to this situation?” “Where can we look in NATURE for lessons, direction and answers?” May I measure each day in servings of gratitude for these elements, these sacraments, these wells that never run dry. Truly, the Keys to the Kingdom are within our reach. Amen.
