"What's the story?"

Picture

I believe that life is a story.  Occasionally, we find our life's story confusing, in disarray or completely stalled.  Counseling is a special time and place set aside to gain deeper insight into your story and make changes.  I am privileged to offer my clients a safe and accepting space to tell their story and move into a new chapter.

I have provided mental health services in the Harrisonburg area for 20 years, including 12 years as a school counselor.  I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree from Virginia Tech and a Master of Science degree in counseling from Radford University.

I use cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness practices to help my clients identify and work through thoughts, feelings, behaviors or relationships that have become unmanageable.   I use strategies and techniques ranging from insight-based talk therapy to creative arts to help clients get unstuck and find new ways of thinking, feeling and relating.

I work with clients age 13 and up.

I have particular interest and experience in helping those with:
  • Depression and mood concerns
  • Stressful life transitions
  • Anxiety
  • Parenting concerns
  • Adolescent behavior challenges
  • Loss and grief
  • Women's issues
  • Spiritual growth and development
"At any given moment, you have the power to say this is not how the story is going to end."
~Christine Miller
Enough about me.  What's your story?
